The details
The limits and rules that apply, so there are no surprises.
How far back
Up to seven days, which is as far as Instagram lets a business send a private reply to a comment.
How much
Up to 500 replies per catch-up, looking through as many as 1,000 comments on each post. With “all posts”, it looks at your 10 most recent posts.
What it answers
Top-level comments that match your keyword. Replies inside comment threads are left alone.
How long it takes
At 200 DMs an hour, a full 500-reply catch-up takes about two and a half hours. Public replies go out within their own limit of 30 an hour.
Questions
Does catch-up run again later?
No. It runs once, when you switch the automation on. After that, new comments are answered as they arrive.
Can it answer comments older than 7 days?
No. Instagram only allows a private reply to a comment within 7 days of it being posted.
Does it work with “next post” automations?
No. There’s nothing to catch up on: they start with your next post.
