What counts as a share
Someone sending you a post in a DM. Instagram doesn’t say which post was shared, so a share of any post to your DMs gets the reply.
Mentions
When someone mentions your account in their story, it arrives in your DMs, and linkpls replies in that conversation.
Greeting people
Instagram doesn’t pass a username along with shares and mentions, so {first_name} reads “there” in these DMs.
The 24-hour window
Shares and mentions arrive as messages, so the reply has to go out within Instagram’s 24-hour messaging window. linkpls answers in seconds; a reply that can’t go out in time is skipped rather than sent late.
